First News and Analyses had an interview with Republican Edward Sharmazanov, vice-president of NA, concerning the upcoming presidential elections and PAP-Republicans relations.
The journalist asked Sharmasanov to comment on the PAP-Republicans relations.
Sharmazanov stressed that there are some tensions in between the parties since they have different opinions concerning number of political issues and added that it doesn’t mean that they are “enemies”.
“I should stress the fact that PAP hasn’t still decided what he is going to do but it is not the reason for the tension. We have different ideas concerning several political issues and that’s all, but I should stress that PAP has made only one official statement concerning the upcoming elections. As you remember when PAP was in the coalition it announced that would support current president. They haven’t announced any other ideas. That’s all we are saying”
Sharmazanov added, “What concerns upcoming elections I should stress that we will win and there is only the question of who will be in the second place. Analyst Richard Kirakosyan has also announced that we will win. I want to say that at present we don’t have any opponent that can go against us, since we have chosen the most difficult path and no any other can go through that.
Charles De Gaulle once said;“Always choose the most difficult path and no enemy will be on your way”. We are doing it, and no one can compete with us.”
Our journalist then asked Sharmazanov to comment on Tsarukyan-Sarsyan meetings and to say whether there is an agreement between them.
According to Sharmazanov it is natural that Tsarukyan meets Sargsyan:
“I should stress that Gagik Tsarukyan (PAP leader) is the RA Olympic president and it is natural that they meet. I can say more, PAP is not our “enemy” and they were even cooperating with us some years earlier and they were in the coalition. What concerns the second part of the question I assure you that no agreement was made between our president and Tsarukyan. All the rumors about the PM post and other positions are just baseless” stressed Sharmazanov.
