The Musa Mikaelyan’s analytical article published in “First Armenian News and Analysis” discusses the path of 21 years of independence and its present characteristics.
The age of 21 years is considered as one maturity for a person, but it’s difficult to ascribe maturity to 21-year-old country.
Armenia has all the state institutes, but they don’t execute as they are considered to do. Moreover they are imitations of state institutions, as they are long ago sold to the Russian Federation. This wasn’t the situation when we were saying “yes” to the referendum of independence. By that time everybody had completely different expectations and values. Due to such values it was possible to win an extremely difficult war, elaborates Musa Mikaelyan.
But the independence built on this victory turned to be more a failure than gaining. Until the issues of personal profit aren’t solved, the feeling of independence will not be the property of each citizen.
The article goes on discussing that problematic issues are not talked much about during holidays, as the majority prefers the solemn wishes, speeches and rhetoric that veil the sorrowful reality. But the country needs the opposite; it needs unbiased diagnosis, open and transparent discussions and healthy decisions. It is only healthy society that is capable of realizing state functions, and only it that case the citizen will be the part of the fest, not its audience. Congratulating all the Armenians, the analyst wishes that the independent country became their social, moral, physical protection pillar, the pharos of their future for them and their generations not to reflect on leaving Armenia.
At the same time this is a fest for all the people living in Armenia irrespective of the nation. Because Armenia is a home for them, second motherland. This also must become the target of our policy, to create home for those who find shelter here, in Armenia.
