On August 22, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Garegin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of Armenians received the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reisi in the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the Ambassador’s visit to the spiritual center of all Armenians, His Holiness congratulated the Ambassador Reisi on appointment, wishing effective mission in Armenia.
Catholicos of All Armenians expressed cordiality to the Iranian authorities for the recent earthquake in Iran, as a result of which there were destruction and many victims. At the meeting His Holiness and the Iranian Ambassador spoke about the Iranian-Armenian community, pilgrimages to Armenian sacred places and about the important role of religious leaders in the maintenance of peace in the region.
Particular reference was made to the situation in Syria and the hard conditions for Syrian-Armenians.
