The National Jeweler’s Day will be celebrated in Armenia on the last Sunday of October. In the Government’s August 23 session agenda, it is noted that “this is needed to point out high skilled jewelry makers”.
In Ancient Armenia, the jewelry makers were working in a way, that all the household and church dishes and jewelry items were becoming piece of arts.
The proof of it is the silver gilt jar, made by Martiros Tarakchyan, which was awarded with gold medal in global exhibition in Paris, 1889.
The works of Vahan Shahamiryan, Martin Izmiryan and Koshtanyan family are also very widely recognized throughout the world.
This branch of art is still developed in Armenia, moreover, Armenian jewelry makers are considered to take leading role in the world.
Meanwhile, Union of Armenian Jewelers offered to have the jeweler’s day as a holiday in October.
