According to World Health Organization, 7.6 million children annually die in the world; more than one-third of them die from malnutrition.
Malnutrition, which is known as hypotrophy in medical world, is described by low weight of a child and light weakness. This can be revealed both by the quantity and the quality of food. By quantity it is meant that a child can get a small amount of food, and the qualitative hunger appears when there is an absence of important components of food –carbohydrates, proteins and fat. The nutrition can also be incomplete, when the milk of nurturing mother lacks in carbohydrates, proteins and fat or vitamins. Malnutrition can happen when the nurturing mother suffers from any chronic disease or doesn’t keep the right regime of nutrition.
According to the results of the investigation of ethnography and health issues in 2010, 15.3% of children till 5 years old were underfed in Armenia, the weight being less than it should be. According to the investigation, 19.3% of children are underdeveloped, that is their height doesn’t correspond to their age, and the 4.7% have low weight.
