Ankara’s position towards Israel is not a reason to expel Turkey from NATO, said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
“Turkey, despite our differences on this issue, continues to be an important member of the alliance,” Miller said at the briefing, commenting on the proposals to consider Turkey’s expulsion from NATO after Ankara’s statements.
According to Miller, views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are not the only thing in which Washington and Ankara differ. Still, the US continues to work on issues where there is agreement.
