On October 2, 2023, around 2:25 p.m., the adversary, motivated by hatred, intolerance, or hostility based on racial, national, and ethnic origin, to unlawfully take life, fired sniper shots at the combat position of the eastern border zone of the protection area of the military unit of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Armenia, in the direction of the “KAMAZ 43114” car providing rear support.
As a result of the shootings, a soldier of the same military unit, Arman Tigrani Kocharyan, received a fatal gunshot wound, and two servicemen received gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital. The “KAMAZ 43114” the shootings also damaged cars.
In connection with the case, in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Department of the RA Criminal Investigation Department, by the 1st and 15th points of the 2nd part of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code, the 1st and 15th points of the 2nd part of the 44-155th Article of the RA Criminal Code. (two episodes) and by the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th points of Article 264, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code, criminal proceedings were initiated.
Later, it was also reported that the enemy also fired shots at the “UAZ” car that was in the balance of the given military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, which was moving to a combat position to evacuate the injured and provide medical aid. As a result, the car’s rear and left side windows were damaged, but the people in the vehicle were not injured.
Regarding the mentioned incident, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Department of the RA Criminal Investigation Department of the Republic of Armenia, by Article 44-155, Part 2, Clauses 1, 7, and 15, as well as Article 264, 2 of the RA Criminal Code. with the characteristics of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th points of the 1st part.
The two proceedings were joined based on the need for an adequate investigation. A preliminary study is being conducted to determine the incident’s circumstances to give final legal assessments of the opponent’s actions.
