Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said that Tehran is sensitive to the security of its shared borders with its northern neighbors. He emphasized that Iran’s borders are safe, and the country continues closely monitoring developments in the Caucasus.
“We are in contact with the authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Armenia authorities have expressed concern about the possibility of a new military conflict with Azerbaijan. However, the Baku authorities have sent us a message that they do not intend to carry out a military attack; the troop movement is a traditional military movement that is carried out on the eve of winter, as a movement in the mountainous regions becomes difficult and confusing,” Kanani said.
He emphasized that Iran is sensitive to the security of the common borders with its northern neighbors and confirmed that Iran’s borders are safe, “The country continues to monitor the developments in the Caucasus closely.”
