“Times” newspaper and “1in.am News and Analyses” website’s team recently returned from Syria, where, as we know, military operations between the opposition and government forces are going on. A lot of problems have been recorded.
People’s social situation in Aleppo is getting worse; people may sometimes stand in front of the problem of lack of food and medicine. “1in.am News and Analyses” asked the head of the working group for Syrian-Armenians in the Ministry of Diaspora FirdusZakarian, whether it is expedient that the authorities of Armenia to direct financial or other types of assistance to Syria .FirdusZakarian said the government of Armenia is already thinking about it.
The official of the Ministry of Diaspora also said that there are about 2000 Syrians in Armenia, most of who have come to spend their summer holidays here. During this year 2500 Syrians have applied for passports, which is a large number compared to previous years. In the past 2-3 months the Ministry of the Diaspora visited many Syrian-Armenians, and about 200 of them received assistance.
Firdus Zakarian once again urged to evince caution when discussing the subject of Syrian-Armenians..
