Official sources report that Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe Mamuka Zhgenti resigns. Information was confirmed by the ambassador himself.
“This is the solution agreed with the government and the president. As far as I know, replacement of ambassadors in all major diplomatic missions is planned. Although it does not mean that I am quitting diplomatic service at all. In any case, I hope so,” said Zhgenti.
However, he added he had no information about who he will be succeeded by in the Council of Europe, which will be decided by the minister of foreign affairs, the president and the parliament.
Recall that Mamuka Zhgenti was appointed Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe in 2011.
