Ruben Tovamsyan, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, gave an interview to “Aravot” and talked about Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s decision.
Note, Armenian first president decided not to participate in the elections.
According to Tovmasyan, a lot of people believed in Petrosyan, and were going after him, but now the situation is very difficult:
“I want to know what answer can give Petrsoyan to the citizens who believed him and were going after him. Who will be responsible for those 10 dead people, who died during March 1st events? It seems that everything was in vain. If this happened back in 1917, Armenia couldn’t make the revolution, but people went after their leaders and they managed to do it. If you take such responsibility on your shoulders and lead people, you must do it till the end and not quit in the middle of the work” said Tovmasyan.
