Today the memorials’ expert Samvel Karapetyan and the head of the political studies center Aleksander Manasyan refered to the recent meeting of Ilya the Second Patriarch of Georgia and the head of the Muslims in Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade during which the Georgian Patriarch has stated like Abkhazia and South Ossetia have always been Georgian lands, so Nagorno Karabakh has always belonged and will belong to Azerbaijan.
Karapetyan told the Georgian media is filled with protests against the NK conflict resolution because they themselves have such an issue with their territory. As Karapetyan states, the population in general thinks the way the Patriarch has expressed his thoughts. Karapetyan also did not exclude the Georgian Patriarch have made that announcement.
The second probable option in this case is that the Patriarch did not say anything like that however the Azerbaijani side tries to restate something the Georgian Patriarch might have said otherwise. The political expert Manasyan states, this has always been a policy Azerbaijani side is well-known to have adopted. Manasyan also stated that there is no equality between the issues of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and NK and that the similarity between these cases has been put by Azerbaijani side. According to the political analyst the people of Armenia should be challenged to figure out who was the liar. In case Catholicos gets engaged in this issue, it must be done solely within the frames of this context.
