Official sources report that Azerbaijan and Georgia are going to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the energy field. Note that Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Kakha Kaladze is in Azerbaijan on a working visit. The delegation includes representatives of the ‘Electricity System Commercial Operator’ and ‘ Georgian State Electricity System’.
According to the information the delegation will hold a meeting with the management of Azerenergy JSC for the start of negotiations on electricity imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia in winter.
Now much work is implemented within ‘Energy Bridge’ project, which envisages electricity export from Azerbaijan to Turkey by connecting the power systems of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Reconstruction of the transmission lines to the border between Azerbaijan and Georgia are necessary to ensure that exports. In turn, the Georgian side should also complete the construction work on its territory.
