Azerbaijani Defense Ministry spokesman Eldar Sabiroglu said that there is no political motive for the waiver of Moscow from the lease of the Gabala radar station located in Azerbaijan.
“Russia wanted to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan in this issue, but the amount offered within the terms was too small” said the spokesman.
Commenting on the future of the radar, the spokesman said that it should be decided by the government.
“Gabala region has today become a resort area, and the radar also takes a fairly large territory and the station building will be used for tourism purposes” said Sabiroglu.
