Today the Ombudsman of the RA Karen Andreasyan talked about the problems the human rights protection face today in Armenia and the statistics on the state authorities’ violations.
According to Andreasyan, the office of the Ombudsman received 5600 requests, a large number of which was provided with a legal assistance. As was clarified, 820 requests had a strong reason to be applied to the Ombudsman and the complaints mainly refer to the police (167 complaints), Ministry Employment and Social Issues (97 complaints), Ministry of Justice (91 complaints), Ministry of Defense (68 complaints), Yerevan municipality (52 complaints).
Thus, the Ombudsman decided upon the 31 violations in 2012: RA Prosecution (6), Ministry of Defense (6), Ministry Employment and Social Issues (4), Yerevan municipality (2). Police department (2), Ministry of Education and Science (1), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1), State Income Committee (1), Department of the State Property Management (1). As Andreasyan concluded he stated from the first day of his work that the cancer of the human rights protection in Armenia is the court system.
