Yesterday information was disseminated that in the back stage of conference on human rights, which took place in Dublin, U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton declared that under the names of “Customs Union” or “Eurasian Union” there is an attempt to conduct a wave of sovietization. U.S. Secretary of State said that the U.S. is trying to find retarding or stopping devices for this wave.
The reporter of “First News and Analyses” Aram Amatouni writes an article on this issue, noting that if the U.S. has openly expressed it, that probably means that it sees serious concerns and risks of the so-called integration processes, Russia started in post-Soviet territories. However, they were taking into granted the creation of certain integration platforms after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Such platforms were perceived by the West as a practical mechanism for deterring post-Soviet chaos.
According to the reporter, the current response of the U.S. shows that this process has already crossed the border, which is beyond the normal, natural development. “Washington sees far-reaching and serious consequences; otherwise Obama’s administration on relations with Russia would hardly make such direct and open statements, even noting the names of specific projects. At the same time, these statements are interesting message to the authorities and communities of those post-Soviet countries that may agree to participate in the Customs Union or the Eurasian Union projects.”
Clarifying the idea Amatouni writes that this is a message to the authorities for the view that the draft is not acceptable and will not be welcomed by the U.S., which may mean spoilage of relations with Washington in case of joining them.
