The words of the press secretary of the RF President, Dmitry Peskov that they “welcome” Turkey’s desire to join the Customs Union formed by Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus within the EurAsEC is a “message” for Armenia. It was stated by economist and former Armenian MP, former member of “Prosperous Armenia” party Vardan Bostanjyan.
The economist noted that Peskov’s statement was probably a request. “Now, if Turkey takes a negative position on this issue, not the president said this, but some other person. And for Turkey, in my opinion, this proposal is not a life ring and is of little political or economic interest,”- he said.
As for the essence of the message to the Armenian authorities, according Bostanjyan, Moscow made it clear for Yerevan that we should not refuse a similar proposal, if available. “Advanced economies, the powers of the world, which are used to play the firs role, forcing smaller countries like Armenia to join them. Smaller countries still have the choice whom to join. We do not have even an alternative, “- said the interlocutor.
According to the economist, for the further growth of Armenia Russian market is very important, the width of the output to which is proportional to the level of bilateral relations.
