Azerbaijani media reports that NISA executive chief Huseyn Panahov, while speaking at the training on ‘Environmental protection, artificial and natural cataclysms: exchange of international experience in Azerbaijan’ held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, announced that the “implications of the crash at the Metsamor nuclear power plant” will exceed damage caused by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“The main purpose of NATO International School in Azerbaijan (NISA) is to expand the existing capacity to ensure security in the Caucasus, and so our work is built around the research of conflicts”, said Panahov, adding “The threat to security arises not only because of the conflict, but also because of the “wrong attitude to the environment. Sometimes natural disasters can cause the biggest damage”.
According to Panakhov, natural disasters will claim nearly 100 million lives due environmental changes in the next 20 years.
