The new special representative of the Government of Georgia in the settlement of relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze said that Georgia and Russia should establish predictable, pragmatic and honest relationship, which will be focused on the future. He announced this on November 1 at a press briefing after the Prime Minister Ivanishvili presented him to the public.
“I understand how difficult and important the mission is. Relationships with Russia are one of the most acute problems of Georgian foreign policy, and the decision of the Prime Minister on the introduction of such a position, as a special relationship with Russia, the Georgian side reaffirms its readiness to establish a new independent channel for relationships, dialogue and communication, “said Zurab Abashidze.
At the same time, he stressed that Georgia will retain the format of the Geneva talks, as it has a special meaning. And the goal of the new format, which Zurab Abashidze presented, will be the discussion and gradual resolution of the most difficult problems in the existing relations between the two countries.
