
In the Ministry of Diaspora there occurred one more meeting with the Syrian-Armenians who recently came to Armenia and with those who live in Erevan.
During the meeting they discussed questions concerning the state and problems of Syrian-Armenians. The Minister reported that according to the President’s instruction, the Ministry of Diaspora is the main body to deal with the problems of the Syrian-Armenians. She said they organized a special group who helps Syrian-Armenians at the airport and meet those who come to the Ministry.
Hakobyan mentioned the two important decisions that will be adopted 10 days. Accordingly, the Syrian-Armenians who have RA citizenship can get passport for the first time in the Embassy of Armenia to Syria in Damascus and in General Consulate of RA in Aleppo. According to another decision of the Government Syrian-Armenians can get visa not only in diplomatic offices, but also on the border of Armenia.
For improving the education already today a lesson was conducted for Syrian-Armenian children at school after Shahumyan with efforts of the Ministries of Diaspora and Education.
The Ministry of Diaspora negotiates with the Ministry of Education and Science for the simplification of entrance exams, tuition fees and preparing courses for the Syrian-Armenians. The Ministry of Health is now solving the questions about their medical assistance.
According to the Migration Service of RA today 30 families have turned to them and they were given living places.
Hakobyan mentioned that Syrian-Armenians are still participating in the programs, such as “Come Home”, “My Armenia”, “Diaspora” summer school, “Lectures of Young Leaders”, “Trainings for Journalists”.
The Ministry of Foreign affairs of Armenia makes attempts to insert additional flights from Syria to Armenia for children to have rest in Armenia. The Ministry of Foreign affairs of Armenia with the help of diplomatic offices and Ministry of Diaspora and with the help of Armenian organizations is now busy with choosing children and organizing the flights.
The Ministry of Diaspora is grateful to all the social organizations assisting in any way. There are businessmen who are ready to give workplace to the newcomers and there are Armenians who are ready to give apartments for temporary living if necessary.
It is satisfying that all the organizations of Armenian community in Syria are united and are cooperating with local diplomatic offices and Ministry of Diaspora.
The members of the meeting asked all the news agencies to be careful with reports not to endanger Armenians in Syria.
