“I wouldn’t give such rude definitions. Anyhow, each person has the right to protect his property irrespective of his social status. So a person’s property right was violated”- said the president of the NA commission of human right protection and public affairs, PAP member Elinar Vardanyan reacting to the observation whether the oligarchs had the need for compensation in the state with so poor budget.
We remind that earlier ANC member, the former military prosecutor Gagik Jhangiryan had announced that as a result of March 1-2 events, 2008, the owners of the so-called robbed shops were given compensations from RA government. Mrs. Vardanyan was unaware of the decision, thus refrained from detailed analysis. She noted from the point of view of human rights, that damage to the property is to be compensated. It’s another question that this damage must be proved. PAP member didn’t comment on the ANC project of creating a new commission dealing with March 1 events investigation.
ARP secretary Galust Sahakyan was also unaware of government’s decision on compensation, but he noted that it’s a civil phenomenon. A simple citizen shouldn’t be hurt from the actions going on in the country. To the observation that the compensation referred to the oligarchs, whereas simple citizens being injured and treated in different medical centers got no compensation Sahakyan disagreed that if they have turned to medical centers after the events, they have been cured free of charge. All citizens of RA are equal, he added. “Finally when we say oligarchs, we imagine anti-national elements not having right and having the duty to work, to develop economy for the others to get salaries, pensions. State must support business.”
Sahakyan didn’t touch upon the moral part saying that in civil world there is a culture that when a person is hurt, the sate supports him.
