Today, On September 27th during the presentation of RA foreign ministry budget execution of the previous year the deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan was asked by ARP MP Shirak Torosyan to explain why since 90s till to date Foreign Ministry doesn’t’ manage to open a consulate in Javakhq.
“But there are some advances concerning the status of Georgian-Armenian episcopate. Though it is desirable to accelerate the process, we manage keep the relations having strategic importance.”- explained Qocharyan.
Torosyan argued that the status of Georgian-Armenian episcopate is not self-determination for us; it’s for the sake of protecting the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in Georgia, namely the architectural monuments. It is worth mentioning that due to Torosyan’s efforts the Foreign Ministry enlarged the investments in the newspapers in Armenian.
