Worldwide famous Armenian-American singer-songwriter, composer, the frontman for experimental hard rock band System of a Down, Serj Tankian had an interview with peta2 about cruelty to animals and the need to protect and take care of them.
“First of all we are animals. I think that’s something that we always forget. That’s our self-differentiation and egos that think that we are different but we are animals.” Tankian noted that there are lots of animals in the shelters and that statistics showed that at least 50 percent of them die, because there is nobody to adopt them. “We have created the domesticated life of animals, humans have, and if we have made that choice, we should take the responsibility of at least looking after that choice. I recommend pet adoption from shelters to everyone.”
“All the issues that affect the peaceful and just coexistence of all beings on this planet affect me. I see them all with one perspective, that of justice”.
Tankian concludes saying that there need to be organizations such as PETA to fight for other species’ rights.
