Tigran Torosyan, former president of Armenia’s National Assembly, today had an interview with 168 Daily covering Safarov’s issue and Armenia’ further steps. To the question whether Armenia acts properly after Safarov’s extradition, he responded: “The main actions are still ahead. We have done only a small part of it. Of course, I should stress that our government, activists, people who protest the actions by different rallies throughout the world gave a positive impact for Armenia, and the international organizations can see what country is really Azerbaijan. I want to focus on the special session which was held earlier in Armenia’s National Assembly, as for me it was just talking and nobody listened to them, like it was during USSR time, but I don’t want to say that is didn’t give an impact at all, it did give, but it is not what we expect.”
The journalists also asked Torosyan to comment on the statement, that this issue can act in favor of the Armenian side at Nagorno-Karabakh peace settlement process. According to Torosyan it will really help for the resolution of that conflict, since Aliyev’s action puts a cross on the imagination that NKR will be safe under Azerbaijan. “The whole world can see what kind of country is Azerbaijan, and NKR cannot be safe under its power. I should stress one more thing that Armenia is neither Russia nor U.S in order to work from the position of force, so we need that other powerful countries to support us for the positive solution of the issue”.
