Ra minister of education Armen Ashotyan announced the intention to transform Armenian-Slavonic University into a research center. “I was in Moscow last week and met with Russia’s new-appointed minister of education and science to discuss the idea of transforming Slavonic university into a research center”. Ashotyan noted that Slavonic being one of the best universities in the country has great chances to become a research center. In his words since 2008 Russia carries out a policy of giving a special status to universities as national-research centers. “The status is either by decree of the president or or by a competition and universities having that status receive large amounts of financing from Russia’s budget”, concluded the minister.
