Azerbaijan proved one more time to be devoid of the right of being the member of European family, and the country when the murder on ethnic grounds is sacred must be condemned by all the civilized communities. This was reported by the member of Armenian PACE delegation Naira Zohrabyan during the parliamentary assembly session on issues of refugees and transited people. She was commenting on extradited and pardoned Azerbaijani citizen Ramil Safarov’s case, who was sentenced to life in prison by Hungarian court for murdering an Armenian officer during NATO trainings.
“Hungary sold European values and justice and gave the criminal to the autocratic country, where murder on ethnic grounds is heroism.”- announced Zohrabyan. She stressed that this incident might have been avoided if international bodies and PACE didn’t exercise double standards towards Azerbaijan.
“Everything that happened, the shame and discredit are direct harm towards European value system, towards international community and civilized world.”- said the member of Armenian delegation expressing hope that PACE will present its certain position.
As Regnum informed earlier on August 31 the Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov sentenced to life-imprisonment for killing an Armenian officer in 2004 during NATO trainings in Hungary was extradited to Azerbaijan. Afterwards the Azerbaijani president gifted him pardon and promoted to the rank of major. On this occasion the president of RA Serzh Sargsyan convened an emergency session of National security service and consultation with ambassadors and announced of stopping diplomatic relations with Hungary.
Several officials from different countries as well as NATO secretary General, PACE head condemned the actions of Hungary and Azerbaijan.
