Translation On Monday, September 3, the Press Service of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan, Azer Mensimli, told the journalists that Azerbaijani deputy Minister of Industry and Energy, Natiq Abbasov, went to Turkmenistan to participate in the meeting on gas supply, where the head of energy ministries of Turkey, Turkmenistan and the European Commissioner for Energy, Gunther Oettinger, will also take part.
Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily reports that TANAP (20% owned by Turkish BOTAS and 80 % by Azerbaijani SOCAR ) project is interested in Turkmen gas and during the meeting it will be discussed.
As reported, the transportation of Turkmen gas via Azerbaijan is possible by building the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline under the Caspian Sea, which provides gas supply from Turkmenistan to Europe by transit.
Note, in December last year, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a consortium that would build a gas pipeline to supply gas from Shah Deniz to Europe through Turkey.
