Armenia’s Foreign Ministry is currently studying the situation in Syria connected with the news which appeared today in press that the Syrian Free Army leaders threatened to destroy all airplanes flying in Damascus and Aleppo airzones, and airlines were warned not to conduct flights started from Tuesday. As the Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan said in a conversation with “1in.am News and Analyses”, there is no regular contact and it is hard to find out whether these threats are real or not.
T. Balayan brought up as an example the denial of widespread rumors that 6 Armenians were killed because ob their Armenian origin.
“We make efforts to check the news, I cannot say anything definite yet,” he said.
Recall that national air transport “Armavia” also applied to the MFA for definite information of the rebel’s threats.
The opposition issued a statement where it was noted that the civil airports can become targets for them because “criminal regime uses them for military actions in order to hurt the rebels”.
