Yesterday at the Cascade, by the “Cafeschyan” Art Center initiative, Colombian sculptor and painter Fernando Botero’s “Smoking Woman”statue was installed. “First News and Analyses” was informed about this from “Cafeschyan” Art Center’s Public Relations and Marketing Officer Lilith Sokhakyan.
“This monumental work of Botero completed two series of statues “Cat “and” Roman soldier” placed in “Cafeschyan “sculptures garden” said L. Sokhakyan.
She cheerfully informed us that there are a number of statues, which will be placed in “Cafeschyan” garden, “Cafesjian” Art Center and near Hisunamyak monument.
Born in 1932 Fernando Botero, who works in figurative technique, has gained great popularity in 1959, when got the first prize at Colombia’s Artists exhibition. The sculptor calls himself “the most Columbian from all the Columbians”.
At 2007 auction Botero’s “Dancers” sculpture was sold for a record 1.7 million dollars price.
