According to the Indian IDRW (Indian Defense Research Wing) website, the Indian artillery systems manufacturing company Bharat Forge has confirmed that the recently demonstrated MArG 155 armored self-propelled howitzers are intended for Armenia.
According to the website, it is a significant achievement for India, as the country has recently been trying to supply international partners with locally produced defense weapons.
In 2020, Armenia purchased 4 units of Swathi mobile radar from India. In September 2022, a $245 million contract was signed to buy Pinaka multiple rocket launchers, anti-tank missiles, and various types of ammunition.
The MArG 155 is also reported to be a state-of-the-art artillery system that combines power, precision, and mobility: Equipped with a 155 mm 39-caliber cannon and 4-wheel traction, it provides exceptional maneuverability in any terrain.
According to the site, its ability to handle slopes of up to 30 degrees and “shoot and run” capabilities make it a flexible and formidable weapon in combat situations.
