“The European Union is closely following the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh,” said Peter Stano, spokesperson for EU foreign policy and security affairs, during a briefing held in Brussels today.
“EU member states will decide the next steps in this context as we see what developments are happening on the ground,” Stano said.
He added that it is essential to urgently return to a meaningful, honest, and authentic dialogue between Baku and Karabakh Armenians and that the EU noted that such a meeting should take place on September 21.
He also stated that the EU expects an immediate cessation of hostilities, “We also expect that Azerbaijan will stop the current military operations.”
