“The ceasefire signed after the 2020 war is not respected. Moreover, the ceasefire has been repeatedly violated, which has led to hundreds of casualties and the occupation of the sovereign territory of Armenia in the east and south-east of the country by Azerbaijani troops”, – this is what the European Parliament, the EU, and Azerbaijan said about this in the report on relations.
The document mentions the blocking of civilian traffic through the Lachine Corridor, the torture of prisoners of war during the September Marches, and the harassment and extrajudicial killings of civilians, including the elderly, in 2020 and early 2021.
“The EU is ready to play an active role as a reliable trading partner and fair mediator in establishing a lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights,” the statement said.
