Styopa Safaryan, member of the “Heritage” political party, gave an interview to Aravot.am and talked about the upcoming presidential elections and authorities-opposition situation.
According to Safaryan, the political field is being pressed by authorities and they can put pressure on political parties, from which they are afraid.
Safaryan announced that there aren’t equal chances both for the opposition and for authorities.
Commenting on the announcements made by PAP, he said:
“I don’t think that PAP was “playing a game” while showing itself as an opposition. They did condemn the government. Since PAP, and its leader Gagik Tsarukyan was very prestigious, the authorities tried to put pressure on it as much as possible. Currently Armenian opposition and authorities go to elections without any power. Republicans do need the support of PAP, since due to them they could pass the previous elections” said Safaryan, adding “PAP’s decision gives a serious doubt on the legitimacy of the elections”.
