Yesterday in the Republic square in Yerevan the solemn event organized by the municipality took place where the lights of the Christmas tree were lit. “Haykakan Zhamanak” reports the municipality had been advertising the event by mass media for weeks, stating that there would be 50.000 light equipment and 4500 toys on the tree. The police closed the surrounding streets to the Republic Square. A number of orchestras and choirs participated in the event.
