Azerbaijani media reports that before the end of this week the memorandum on Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia will take effect in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey.
The document provides, inter alia, the agreed transit fares on this route, bypassing Russia. They are planned to be lower than transit rates in Russia for at least 10-13%.
Since 2012, Kazakhstan has been developing its grain export shipments on the same route (that is, through the ports of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey). A core sector of the transport and the corridor is generally trans-Caspian Sea section Aktau port (Kazakhstan) – Baku port (Azerbaijan).
