Musa Mikayelyan in his article mentions yesterday there was an agreement between Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to sign a memorandum on building a Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor. There is an intention to include the energetic factor into this passage as well.
Mikayelyan states this is another initiative in the region that bypasses Armenia, previous examples being Baku-Jeyhan or Kars- Akhalkalaki. This means the tendency of not considering Armenia in the region is continuous. Now what does Armenia put as a response to these initiatives? Mikayelyan states Armenia remains silent in responding to these challenges.
The North-South highway and Iran-Armenia railroad construction did not cause an international agitation. Moreover, Russia that is considered the first strategic partner of Armenia did not respond anyhow to these initiatives. All the other countries seeing that the first strategic partner is indifferent towards these initiatives did not see any sense to interfere. This is the response of Armenia to be over-dependent on another country.
Mikayelyan concludes the incumbent government sees the unperceptive future for this dependence and looks to the West already to counterbalance the situation but it is more talk less action. No one will take serious consideration on these matters because everybody is busy with intrastate presidential elections.
