Azerbaijani media reports that country’s president Ilham Aliyev expressed his condolences to U.S. President Barack Obama regarding the tragedy in a school in Newtown, Connecticut.
“I was deeply saddened to hear the news of a fatal incident in a school in Newtown, Connecticut state. I share your grief over this tragedy, and on behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my deepest condolences to You, the families and relatives of the victims, and all people of America, and wish you all patience and endurance,” the statement said.
Note, on Friday, a heavily armed man walked into a Connecticut elementary school Friday and opened fire at the innocent people.
Within minutes, 26 people were dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School – 20 of them children.
The shooter, identified by three law enforcement officials as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, also was killed, apparently by his own hand.
