Georgian media reports that while Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili was in Poland, he touched upon the issue of the importance of dialogue between religions.
“We should remember that there are many Georgian Muslims in the world. Unity of all communities of Georgian origin scattered around is important to retain their nationality and ties with Georgia, despite their religion. It is very important to keep these people together and therefore stirring up ethnic conflicts in Georgia between the Orthodox Church and Muslims is unacceptable,” said Saakashvili, adding “It is a very painful subject which may become irreversible if one does not pay attention to it”.
