USAID chief lawyer in Azerbaijan Leyla Mammadova told country’s media that the main priority for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Azerbaijan is support of the development of small and medium business.
“The main purpose of USAID in Azerbaijan at present is to assist banks in establishing an enabling environment for small and medium enterprises in agriculture, in other words, for the farmers,” said Mammadova, adding “USAID intends to contribute to the development of agriculture in the country, given the existing potential in fisheries and livestock.”
Note, USAID directed $18.4 million to Azerbaijan to support more than 15 projects, including in the areas of democracy and governance, promoting economic growth and health.
