The official website of Assembly of Armenians of Europe (AAE) informs that AAE sent an open letter to “Hayastan” pan-Armenian Fund urging to donate the proceeds of the Phonathon to the Syrian Armenians.
The Assembly of Armenians of Europe (AAE) chair Garo Hakopian in the latter thanked the fund and congratulated all the participants and all the Armenians all over the world for their participation in the Phonathon.
In the letter it was particularly stated that taking into account the current situation of the Syrian Armenians, in the name of the members and the council of the AAE, Garo Hakopian suggests to allocate the majority of the sum (over 50%) raised during a Pan-European Phonathon (instead of estimated 10%) to aid Syrian Armenians.
In the open letter AAE also noted that they consider the decision of allocating only 10% to aid Syrian Armenians not enough at least because of the reality that the participants of the Phonathon when donating money in their minds had the threats for the lives of the Syrian Armenians.
