First news and Analyses today interviewed Artsrun Pepanyan, president of Political Studies “Verelk”(Ascension) foundation and the main topic of the discussion was Armenian political life and the upcoming presidential elections.
Our journalist asked Pepanyan to comment what he thinks concerning the upcoming presidential elections, what can our nation get from it?
“If there is a triangle in the elections, it will be good for our nation. I will understand what I mean by saying triangle. If there will be only 2 opponents; authorities and opposition, the authorities will certainly win. But in case there are three powers playing, authorities won’t be confident in their victory.
What concerns the silence from the society; I should say that the society has become wiser through the years, than the government. Whereas that should have been the opposite”.
Papanyan noted that disappointment of the society comes from the obvious understanding that when somebody gives hope that there is going to be a change, but he fails, the people don’t believe in the hope any more.
“Our political field is an arena for onanism. As far as our political powers confuse the outcome with the reason, our state is not going to develop”.
