Georgian media reports that another Georgian serviceman, Corporal Mindiya Abashidze, was killed in Afghanistan while fulfilling a peacekeeping mission within the NATO ISAF operation.
Abashidze also served in the Afghan mission in 2010-2011.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
This is the 18th Georgian soldier killed while fulfilling a mission in Afghanistan.
It should be noted that the Georgian Dream Party which is coming into power in Georgia, intends to continue the mission in Afghanistan. According to Irakli Alasania, nominated for the post of Defense Minister, the Georgian military will remain in Afghanistan until the end of the ISAF mission.
