Georgian media, Civil.ge, reports that Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ramaz Nikolaishvili, has resigned, in order to run for an MP seat in the October 1 parliamentary election.
The former minister will run as a ruling party’s majoritarian MP candidate in Ozurgeti, single-mandate constituencies in the Guria region.
Note, Nikolashvili is already the second person who resigns in order to take part in the MP elections.
Giorgi Baramidze, now the former Georgian state minister for Euro-Atlantic integration, was the first to resign from his post, in order to be the ruling United National Movement party’s majoritarian MP candidate in Batumi.
